July Festival Update:

Following an epic start to the summer with Belfast’s third edition of AVA; it’s biggest and best yet; we’re firing on all cylinders. Festival season is well underway with no letting up.

This Saturday, it's a highly anticipated welcome return for AFROPUNK. Back to London for its second UK outing, this mega cultural movement-come-arts-music and fashion mecca heads to London’s most exciting venue, Printworks, a killer line up and a host of goings-on to delve into.
August kicks off with Eastern Electrics, making its way back into the city in a new lush location, Morden Park. Then, it’s across the UK and Europe with no letting up. From Amsterdam’s hip-hop mecca, Appelsap, to Croatia for Sonus Festival and the infamous back to back costal fortnight with Dimensions Festival, followed by the sister festival, Outlook Festival - in its 10th edition - each outing heralds an uncompromising line up of heritage acts, super selectors, and new kids on the block. Back on homeground, we’ve got everyone’s fave dirty little rave, Field Maneuvers, in a secret location, just a stones’ throw from London. For those looking to round out the summer by the Mediterranean, Malta’s underground party haven Glitch returns in its 2nd year. DJ’s, Artists and Bands are set to make serious waves across boat parties, beach sessions and storm through all night rave ups in forts and fields.

AFROPUNK LONDON: 22nd + 23rd July 2017, Printworks, London


This July 22nd - 23rd, AFROPUNK returns London for its 2nd year. An unmissable cultural experience, the event unites the best in music, food, art, and creativity in London’s most interesting and exciting venues, Printworks. Seriously stylish with an incredible line up from Soul, R&B and Grime to hip-hop, punk reggae and more.

Expect heritage acts, kingpins and pioneers sharing a bill with new breakout acts and local scenesters with a mega bill including The Internet, Lianne La Havas, Nao, Danny Brown, Thundercat, Jme, Willow Smith, The Heavy, Corinne Bailey Rae, Jazzie B, Little Simz, Jazz Re:Freshed, Nadia Rose, Kojey Radical, Connie Constance, Blacktronica, gal-dem DJs, Born N Bread DJs and more all stepping up. Not solely a music festival, it’s a cultural mecca and an experience with the Spinthrift Marketplace, My Yard, Activism Row, Food, Drink and Style.
Afropunk’s Spinthrift Marketplace is a highlight, with apparel, crafts, tattoos, and more; a melting pot of creativity, style and beauty. My Yard is a unique collaboration, brought to AFROPUNK by the BBZ collective, supported by the iconic i-D magazine, and sponsored by Fred Perry.

Eastern Electrics: 5th August 2017, London

Eastern Electrics Festival turns 6th this year and heads back into the big smoke for arguably London’s best one-dayer. Returning to its roots,  This year’s mega line-up boasts club favourites Skream, Hot Since 82, Sonny Fodera, Steve Lawler, Oneman and more with stages hand-curated by a selection of elite clubbing institutions from around the world.

With the Carl Cox heading up the mainstage, he’s joined by friends old and new. Dancefloor mavericks and club heavyweights, House and techno maestros, plus garage and dons come together for an all – day, open air party with the world’s hottest DJ’s spinning the biggest and best underground tunes.

Âme (DJ), Darius Syrossian, Nick Curly, Waze and Odyssey and Alexis Raphael pave the way for Cox. The Switchyard will host Hot Since 82, bringing Knee Deep in Sound back to London with the party-goers favourite, Denis Sulta in tow, plus Mind Against and more. Skreamizm from Skream is a dancer’s paradise, it’s summer time club bangers galore from him, Dennis Ferrer, Butch and Jonjosé & Celino. Steve Lawler returns to London with his Viva Warriors squad – Denney, Art Depart Elliot Adamson and more set to dish out the best in big room bangers. Sam Divine, Sonny Fodera, Sandy Rivera and more bring timeless classics and hot new tunes to the Club Tent. Rinse FM are on takeover duties, with radio mainstays My Nu Leng, Heartless Crew, Oneman, Barely Legal, Sian Anderson and more. DJ Pierre, brings 30 Years of Acid to South London, following local heads including Stuart Patterson and Terry Farley.

Applesap Festival: 12th August, Amsterdam

Appelsap Fresh Music Festival returns. Following it’s inception as a block party in 2000, it’s now in its 17th year.

Celebrating everything that’s fresh in Amsterdam, the event takes pride in place as the leader of the Dutch urban music scene and the purveyor of global talent and culture. This August 12th, Flevopark will play host to a local talents of the Nederhop scene alongside international heavyweights. Rap, Soul, R&B and electronic music come to one space, resonating with the Appelsap ‘One Love’ ethos.  Following Lotte Van Raalte’s visual exploration of this year's ‘One Love’ campaign, the adjoining video, directed by Basha De Bruijn sets the scene for Appelsap and its core values. Featuring various artists from the Appelsap fam and this year’s lineup including Bokoesam, Fresku, 070 Shake, Rotjoch, Jarreau Vandal, Mairo Nawaz and Vic Crezée, it's a stunning audio visual projection of Holland’s leading Hip-hop event, celebrating unity, peace and friendship. 

With Lil Wayne headlining, and the likes of Jhus, Dave, Siobhan Bell, Kempi playing across 4 spaces from Appelsap Fresh Music Festival’s own stage to curated stages from Noisey, Boiler Room and Red Light Radio,  it’s an incredible testament to the Dutch scene. Just announced, we can also reveal that Egyptian Lover, Young M.A, Lunice and SBMG will also perform amongst numerous other acts.

Sonus Festival: 20th- 24th August 2017

The countdown is on to Croatia's unmissable house and techno party, with just under two months to go until Sonus Festival 2017. From August 20 - 24th the biggest international house and techno players will arrive on Croatia’s idyllic Pag Island. 

Now in it’s fifth year, Sonus present five days and five nights of sun, sea, and unforgettable music. The crew have pulled out all the stops for their biggest line-up to date, with global players Marco Carola, Richie Hawtin, Sven Väth and Ricardo Villalobos plus Jackmaster, tINI, Sonja Moonear and a very special live show from Detroit double team Floorplan aka Robert Hood and Lyric Hood live – and that’s only a taste of what’s to come on the mega bill. 

With boat parties from the likes of XLR8R, Trax and Tini and the Gang taking the rave to the waves, and stage takeovers from Resident Advisor and Berlin’s house mecca, Club Der Visionaire, plus locally loved Movement Croatia bringing Sven Väth, Joseph Capriati and more into the after-hours sessions, Zrce Beach is preparing for a hefty house and techno workout like no other.

Dimensions Festival: 30th Aug - 4th Sept 2017

From 30th August - 4th September, Dimensions Festival’s iconic fortress comes to life for it’s 6th outing. With seven stages and a carefully curated line up for those who like their music varied, performances come from legendary artists and class acts, globally celebrated headliners and fresh new talent. Dimensions is the music lover’s sun kissed haven. 

Inimitable and iconic, the majestic enigma Grace Jones head ups the opening concert in Pula’s glorious amphitheater alongside Moderat, Yussef Kamaal and Moses Boyd. Nina Kraviz, Dam - Funk, Goldie, Mala, Khruangbin, Adrian Sherwood, Maurice Fulton, Kode 9, Parris Mitchell, Mr Ties, Willow, Pinch, Bradley Zero, Mungo's Hifi and over 100 more names. Then there’s the boat parties, an essential part of the festival goers experience, over 20 ships hosted by the likes of Resident Advisor and Mr Saturday Night will set sail, taking sonic explorations from house, techno, soul, disco, jazz, dub and more across the Adriatic Sea.

Across four packed out days and nights from the 31st August onwards, expect takeovers from Hessle Audio, Zeezout, Clone Records, Resident Advisor, Stamp the Wax, Metalheadz, Exit Records, Bodytonic and more. It's biggest bill of live acts and selectors to date, with live broadcasts from Worldwide FM and Balamii radio stations, the 6th Dimensions Festival is not one to sleep on.

Outlook Festival: 6th - 11th September 2017

Outlook Festival celebrates 10 years of its existence this September, with a mega celebration. Taking place from 6th – 10th September, a mammoth bill celebrates pioneers and legends Dizzee Rascal, Dawn Penn, Goldie, Wiley, Hatcha, Giggs, Congo Natty, DJ Shadow and Horace Andy and showcases a whole host of the world’s hottest grime, dubstep, reggae, soul, drum and bass and hip-hop artists. 

This year, the 20-person Outlook Orchestra perform at the iconic opening concert gives way to blissed out beats and soul by the sea, late night fortress raves and over 40 boat parties setting sail. The perfect way to combine a holiday and a party - A lot can change in 10 years, but Outlook Festival’s dedication, passion and ability has secured their place as one of the leading festival promoters worldwide. With artists, punters and crew returning loyally on what’s become a bass-led pilgrimage to fun in the Fortress,  it’s impossible to ignore how Outlook Festival is truly cemented at the forefront of bass music and Soundsystem culture across the globe while remaining true to their roots.

Another weekend of debauchery beckons with Field Maneuvers. Take the first weekend of September one (secret) field, three stages, 700 revelers, and over 35 incredible artists, plus world class sound system and a load of familiar faces and you’ve got a dirty little rave.

With an impeccable roster og resident DJ’s (including Ben Sims, Ryan Elliot, and Brackles), the Field Maneuvers crew mark 5 years in the field with a host of dancefloor dons, underground heroes and worldwide spinners. From international legends such as Soichi Terada and Nick Höppner to more local heroes including the unstoppable Midland, DJ Nature and Peach Discs’s label honcho, Shanti Celeste.

There’s also a whole host of underground spinners, local heroes and rising talent from Octo Octa and DJ Storm, to DJ’s DJ Jane Fitz and Jane Seattle with their Night Moves arena, plus the Field Maneuvers own motley crew of family, friends and fabulous selectors. Glitch Festival: 7-8th September 2017

In its debut outing last summer, Glitch Festival brought techno masters Ben Klock, Carl Craig and Tom Trago alongside some of electronic music’s most revered artists for a 2-day party. Now in its second-year Glitch Festival returning to the island of Malta with an eclectic selection of house and techno heavyweights with Ben Klock, Maceo Plex, Marcel Dettmann, Jon Hopkins, Mr. G, DJ Stingray, Blawan and many more spinning in Gianpula’s abandoned fortress, sound tracking this Mediterranean adventure.
